Is it Austrailian Open or Australian Open? I’m confused! 0

Today I DESPERATELY wanted to Google about the Patrick Kane’s limo photos or the Honda recall but I couldn’t.

Why you ask? Because I was stopped by the number 12 most searched topic: the Austrailian Open.

And????

Well if you see absolutely nothing wrong with that then I’m sorry my friend… you’re a moron.

Before you bombard me with some insulting diatribe, although I would highly appreciate the social contact, stop.

I’m not saying there is anything wrong with people Googling the Austrailian Open. I’m just saying they’d probably have more luck Googling the Australian Open.

Still don’t see the difference??

Then you are a double moron.

Yes the gig is up, at least for the more intelligent of us, today’s number 12 Google Trends spot has been brought to you by the idiots of the world who can’t spell Australian correctly.

At first I thought it was a mistake on Google’s part. A slip of the finger or something. But then I did a little bit of snooping and found a list of blogs/sites who had also spelt Australian wrong.

Can it be? Can there really be a hoarde of stupid people searching for Austrailian Open so often they get it on Google Trends? It’s not the first time it’s happened.

They did it with the Hieti earthquake too… (hint: it’s meant to be Haiti).

But why get so worked up about it right? It’s just that country we all make downunder jokes about. I don’t think Crocodile Dundee is really going to care.

Well no! I’m Australian and I can’t help but take offence to this slight of hand.

How would you like it if we Googled Ameirica? I bet it stings. Makes you think that the rest of the world doesn’t even care about you enough to spell your country right.

And sure. So we’re not a international powerhouse and we mostly trade with China. But we aren’t being overrun by kangeroos and we have feelings too.

We Austrailians, I mean Australians, make an effort to learn how to spell other countries and we deserve the same respect.

We’ve contributed heaps of meaningful things to the world like…um… ugg boots…and…Steve Irwin (R.I.P)

We’re not just some tiny country like Cuuba that you can push around. Have you seen how strong the Aussie dollar is next to the American dollar? We’re heading for world domination, mate.

And then we’ll see who’s calling what a knife.

By the way if you were looking for the lastest Australian Open scores but couldn’t get them because you were Googling the Austrailian Open here they are:

THE results of matches played on Day 12

1 R.Federer Rod Laver Arena 6 6 6
10 J.Tsonga 2 3 2
F.Pennetta / M.Melo Rod Laver Arena 0 6 0
E.Makarova / J.Levinsky 6 4 1
1 C.Black / L.Huber Rod Laver Arena 4 3
2 V.Williams / S.Williams 6 6
