sexy clothes

i dreamt i was hanging out with John Galliano last night. like McQueen, Galliano's a former gutter rat turned glittering rock star. i used to think he was far too costume-y for my taste but i do love the stuff he does for Dior - so aggressively sexy. he pulled a Tom Ford on Dior, too, transforming it from a stodgy couture house into a hip hot bordering-on-trashy brand.

anyway i woke up thinking about clothes, specifically tight, clingy, sexy dresses with fitted waists and flared skirts cut on the bias, low-cut corset-like bodices and feminine details in the trim - it's weird, i've never wanted clothing like this before. i think part of it is definitely having a boy around who likes and appreciates clothes. we talk about clothing and fashion a lot. and he's really great to go shopping with. well, it's a double-edged sword actually, as he tells me i look fantastic in just about everything i try on. he's not exactly an unbiased observer. his enthusiasm makes it harder to resist spending money on nice things.

i REALLY have to learn to sew.

Ah, Dior's New Look. While I don't think I could pull it off, it sure makes for good eye candy. As for Galliano, I don't really care for the tendency towards logomania, but he can craft couture gowns with the best of 'em. Now when we're talking about the bias cut, I adore Zac Posen. Have you heard the latest though? He's been financed by Sean John! Supposedly, he'll be allowed to remain "creatively autonomous." We shall see...

How scary to hear mention of Zac Posen. I went to camp with that guy for two summers in Vermont, and I have the pictures/videos to prove it. ^_^

galliano's men's runway show is so cool. although the jockstrap thing is a little weird. but coture always is a little weird. not a bad thing. when i look at the stills, i wonder why fetishwear isn't more like this-- the fetish crowd can be almost *boring* (think of it! calling fetish boring!) with its repetitive goth black leather, chains, chokers and eyeliner. especially the men. there's hardly any imagination at all anymore. makes me wanna go to a fetish ball dressed in white and furs a la galliano and stir shit up.

silly, fun, kinda interesting cinematic effects; paced like a videogame. The Rock is a decent comic actor as well as credible action hero. cool fighting scenes.

in spite of some good performances, i couldn't get over the condescending tone. it's a classic case of straight guy pretending to be gay, getting the girl and a better job, and safely being able to declare that he's straight - and escaping thr real problems of homophobia. left me feeling a little icky.

lulu gave me this book. it's magical. set in a fantasy industrial age new york city, suffused with mythology.

a great game. scary. i can't play it unless jesse's home. even then it's hard. i make him play it so i can cower behind the blanket and tell him to watch out for the bad guys. yeah, i'm that much of a wimp.
