wedded bliss

it makes me want to cry that so many people are troubled by the union of two adults who love each other.

please. they are not hurting you. leave them alone to be happy together. it's just a piece of paper. it means more to them than it does to you. let it go, and try to find happiness in your own life.

What amazes me most is the people who hold your opinion can't even see the opposing view.

Many (at least 60% of the population) think that this represents a huge decline of morals in our country. We see it as another step in the corruption of the society. I personally feel that we are being forced to accept things that I think are wrong.

I honestly believe that in the next 20 years NAMBLA will be lobbying with more force, and that people like me will be labelled "close-minded" or a hick because I oppose it. We'll see images of a grown man making out with a 6 year old on TV, and be told that this is just an expression of their love.

Marriage between same sex couples means government approval. In the very least I think people should have a say over what their government approves.

Which leads to the second point, in that judges are really forcing thier political agenas on people (from the left and the right), and people choose this topic to make a stand against that. California (one of the most liberal of states) voted for a defense of marriage act. Yet these marriages go against the will of the people.

I hope you aren't too offended by this. I think you are a good person, and I respect your opinions. We all have different levels of tolerance/acceptance regarding ideas or actions of people.

Right.

Recognizing the union of two mutually consenting adults is exactly the same thing as legalizing the union of an adult and minor with no legal right to consent.

I love the slippery slop fallacy that some conservatives trot out to explain how gay marriage leads to bestiality (last I heard animals are not considered legally consenting actors), polygamy (which actually I'm not against in theory, although the legality would a nightmare to wrangle out) and pedophilia.

Brittney's 55 hour marriage being 100% legal is a more shock to traditional cultural values than two loving adults who want to spend the rest of their lives together.

Lee it is very insulting to suggest that being gay is the same as being a child rapist.

okay let's stop this now. it's not going to go anywhere.

it just warms my heart to see the people lining up outside city hall - some of whom have been waiting for over a decade to get that little piece of paper.

celebrate love and life, my friends. both are fleeting and all too short.

silly, fun, kinda interesting cinematic effects; paced like a videogame. The Rock is a decent comic actor as well as credible action hero. cool fighting scenes.

in spite of some good performances, i couldn't get over the condescending tone. it's a classic case of straight guy pretending to be gay, getting the girl and a better job, and safely being able to declare that he's straight - and escaping thr real problems of homophobia. left me feeling a little icky.

lulu gave me this book. it's magical. set in a fantasy industrial age new york city, suffused with mythology.

a great game. scary. i can't play it unless jesse's home. even then it's hard. i make him play it so i can cower behind the blanket and tell him to watch out for the bad guys. yeah, i'm that much of a wimp.
