About Me (And My Blog) 2

nov27

When I was a kid I dreamt of being a doctor…but as it turns out blood makes me squeamish… so I chose the nice, safe, blood-free career option of journalism instead.

But until someone sets me loose on the very competitive and cut throat world of  journalism. I have decided to put on the training wheels and get some much needed street cred via this blog.

Like most I am absolutely and irrevocably in love with Google.

I don’t want to hark on about ‘when I was young’ but I remember the days when researching meant pulling out dusty, old encyclopaedias and all the computer searching I could do was on Microsoft Encarta.

But thankfully times have changed. Now all I ever need is no more than 0.24 seconds search away thanks to my web soul mate.

Unsurprisingly, I am not the only person in an unrequited but exclusive love affair with Google, which brings me back to my blog (I apologise in advance for my tendency to go off on tangents).

Googling By Numbers is a weird name but then this is a blog about the weird things people search for on Google…so it’s incredibly fitting.

And I’m not talking about one guy who hides away in his bedroom deleting his search history so his mum doesn’t find out!

I’m talking about the millions of people who search for the same thing so many times it pops up on Google Trends.

Thus armed with the daily list of hot searches I will muse on the most ridiculous and downright strange topics that dominate our lives and captivate us to the point that we can no longer resist the urge to Google it.

After all, knowledge is power…even if it is about nothing more than Frosty the Inappropriate Snowman.

Hope you can join me,

Elisa
